Yesterday afternoon, Bob and I delivered gifts to elderly shut-ins. The weather was a balmy 51 degrees, and there was absolutely no wind - which is a real treat in Great Falls! It reminded me of the holidays I spent in Arizona as a child. Our weather was usually mild, so all the cousins would get together with other neighborhood kids and play football or softball in somebody’s field. Bob grew up in Florida and Louisiana, and he remembers the same thing - kids would gather after a holiday meal and play outside until dusk. As we drove around Great Falls yesterday, we passed several city parks and quiet neighborhoods. Not a creature was stirring. On a relatively warm and still winter holiday, nobody was outside playing! We decided it is a sign of our technologically “advanced” times.
